Maybe you know me and maybe you don't. My name is Dalton Smith, I am a General Contractor in Henderson, TX. I have been self employed as long as I can remember. Occasionally I would get a job to supplement my income, or I would think that I was being a dreamer and it was time to wake up and get a job. But after a few weeks or months I would inevitably return to my love of self-employment. It has taken many forms over the years, but ultimately I ended up as a General Contractor.
For the most part I love General Contracting. It lets me keep my own schedule, I'm the boss, and I make an okay living. The down side though, is the bod aches and down time between jobs. General Contracting, at least in my case, is seasonal. So last year when the economy tanked and the work i did have was having it's profits eaten up for whatever reason by inflation, and I knew that the holidays were on their way, I decided to start looking around again for a way to stabilize my income.
I searched and searched through all the spammy promises on the internet. I am a pretty cautious person and I see through gimmicks pretty easily. I knew i needed to find something that was recession proof as well as non-seasonal. By chance I happened upon a Forex trading video on YouTube. It was pretty interesting, but it looked way over my head. After some digging I found that if you had the right plan, you could make dome okay money. The problem was the the Forex education arena was filled with educational systems and indicators that guaranteed you profits without much effort. If only you bought their course work. I have to say that I never bought course work. I did buy a trading bot though (as I hang my head in shame). The Galileo, said to be the most effective trade bot on the market...it isn't. In fact it is what we all feared it was, a gimmick that promised the world and delivered a blown demo account.
So why didn't I give up and move on to something else, you may be asking yourself. Well, that's because at the root of Forex I felt there was something of substance. I could see that if I could just figure out where the market was going, I could make some real profits. No sales, no employees, no bosses, just me and an opponent. Just the way I like it. Perhaps that's why I liked boxing so much. Anyway, fate had a plan as it usually does, and I met a man named Jeff Goodwin. He showed me around the Forex charts and introduced me to some indicators that really seemed to make sense. Jeff ended up becoming a mentor to me in the Forex world, and I can honestly say that without his guidance I would not have made it as a trader.
So I buckled down for a year, between building contracts, and dedicated myself to Forex trading. I studied and studied, and when I was exhausted I studied a little more. "What did I find", you are again asking yourself. Well...I'm not a millionaire...yet, but what I do have is a really solid grip on my financial future. The things I have learned from the trading group Jeff introduced me to (The Ninja Forex Traders), is that with some solid effort and the right tools, just like Contracting, I am able to build a really reliable and powerful trading career. In fact, I will be taking my FTMO trial next week to start trading for other people. What is FTMO? If you don't have enough money to trade in your own account, you can trade for private investors as long as you pass a trading proficiency test.
So I guess my take away from this is that Forex IS a very powerful career to transition into. I am very glad that I was not thwarted away from my financial and schedule dreams by spammers trying to sell a system. If you are looking for a career change that is recession and inflation proof, that has no salary cap and is literally limitless in it's earning potential, then I would seriously look into Forex trading.
